Galaxy Ring Review - Pros, Cons, and How to Choose the Perfect Fit
For the past week, I’ve been a proud owner of the Galaxy Ring. I wear it almost all the time, and getting used to it has been surprisingly easy.
My Thoughts on the Galaxy Ring
I can’t say I love everything about the ring or that it’s the most sensible purchase ever, but I’m confident it’s worth trying.
Every time I place it in its sleek, futuristic charging case, I feel like a high-tech version of Gollum!
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Accurate biometric tracking
- Smaller and less intrusive than a smartwatch
- Looks stylish on your hand and doubles as a cool accessory
- Provides an easy way to monitor changes in your biological parameters over time
- Battery lasts 6–8 days and charges in just 40 minutes
Cons:
- Can feel uncomfortable at times, so sizing is crucial
- Heart rate and stress measurements are taken every 10 minutes. I hope future updates allow for customization, though this frequency still makes sense.
- Blood oxygen and skin temperature readings only happen during sleep. This seems fine, as the sensors are highly sensitive and designed to work best in these conditions.
- May feel discomfort during activities like driving or weightlifting.
Choosing the Right Ring Size
Size matters a lot here. Following Samsung’s recommendation, I ordered the Galaxy Ring Sizing Kit for €10 to try different sizes for 24 hours. And when I say 24 hours, I mean the full 24 hours! The cost of the ring kit is deducted from the final purchase price.
I settled on size 13, which is currently the largest available. Samsung plans to release two larger sizes (14 and 15) soon, so if you have thicker fingers, waiting for these might be a good idea.
Getting the size right is essential because this isn’t your typical ring.
Most of the time, I have no issues, but if it’s very hot or my blood flow increases for any reason, the ring can feel tight. Occasionally, I switch it from one index finger to the other finder or hand, but I don’t see this as a major inconvenience.
